A Letter To Our Volunteers...
Robert and I want to again thank each of you on behalf of all of those you served this March 2017 at the Dominican Republic Mission. It is beautiful to witness the outpouring of talent, compassion, dedication and hard work that you bring to the mission. The gift you have given them is beyond measure, for that I hope your heart will be full of the love and appreciation that is sent your way.
What we do is not to be measured in numbers, but just to let you know what is reported on our not-for-profit, tax material, here they are. The total patients seen in screening and primary eye care was 1323. Surgeries and procedures were as follows: Cataracts-153, Strabismus-113, Plastics-30, Pterygiums-25, Dermatology-1, Major surgery-66 minors and 165 consultations. Prosthetic Fittings- 24.
We hope that each of you had a Blessed Easter and Passover Celebration. It is so nice to feel and see Spring finally emerging as we get on with our busy lives. We feel so blessed to know each of you. It was a more difficult few weeks upon our return, with the GI and respiratory symptoms that hit many of us. Hope this finds us all well now.
For those that can come, the Cycle for Sight fund raising ride will be Saturday, July 15th. We hope to see you there. You don't have to ride unless you want to. A picnic will follow at noon at the same place as last year (Murdocks). More details will follow in early June.
Sending love and wishing each of you the very best.
Robert and Darlene
